AeroPress (Standard) Recipe
Coffee 17g
Water 200ml
Ratio 1:11.8
Grind Medium-fine
Temperature 195°F
Brew Time 2:00–2:30
What You’ll Need
- AeroPress Coffee Maker
- AeroPress paper filters
- 17g (about 1 rounded scoop) of freshly ground coffee
- 200ml of water heated to 195°F
- Scale and timer
- Mug or cup (sturdy)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Heat your water to approximately 195°F. Insert a paper filter into the filter cap, rinse it thoroughly with hot water, and screw the cap securely onto the chamber. Place the chamber upright on top of a sturdy mug.
- Add Grounds: Grind your coffee to a medium-fine consistency, similar to table salt. Use the funnel to pour the 17g of ground coffee into the chamber.
- The Bloom: Start your timer and slowly pour about 34ml of heated water over the ground coffee, fully saturating it. Let the coffee bloom for 25 to 30 seconds.
- Fill and Insert Plunger: Pour the remaining hot water (up to 200ml total). Insert the plunger seal slightly (1–2mm) into the top of the chamber to create a vacuum lock that prevents early dripping.
- Steep and Stir: Allow the coffee to steep for 1 minute. Remove the plunger, stir the mixture gently for about 10 seconds, and re-insert the plunger seal.
- Plunge: Press the plunger down slowly and steadily. This process should take about 20 to 30 seconds, ending when you hear a gentle hissing sound.
Experiment and Enjoy
The instructions above serve as a great starting point, but don’t be afraid to experiment with different coffee to water ratios, temperatures, and brewing times to find your perfect cup.
